Phoenix Textile Artists group are back at Burnley Mechanics with their new exhibition Burnley Now and Then.
The exhibition provides glimpses of our area in textile art through personal responses to landscape, history and the present day. Also a section in response to the café culture of the town.
This exhibition of mixed media art runs until the end of November and is open to the public 11am to 3pm on Tuesdays to Saturdays. Why not combine a visit to the exhibition with lunch or afternoon tea in the Bistro? Find out more on our website.
About the artists: Phoenix Textile Artists meet monthly at Fence Village Hall to share ideas, work and chat.
Their textile work ranges from collaborative projects, individual work and working as a group on a theme.
They have exhibited in many venues across Lancashire and aim to promote textile art in all its many forms.
Their work is a mixture of traditional and modern methods, hand and machine embroidery and hand dying of fabric and threads. Some members have now branched out into other related textile disciplines such as felting, knitting, spinning, weaving and using mixed media. Their aim is to develop their Art and share their work and skills with the wider community.
