Burnley was buzzing on Saturday (12 September) as the Vintage & Performance Car Show roared back into town for 2026.

St James’s Street and Curzon Street were transformed into a showcase of motoring through the decades with dozens of vintage, classic and high-performance cars and motorcycles attracting crowds of enthusiasts, families and visitors from across Lancashire.

From beautifully restored classics to head-turning performance cars, there was plenty to see throughout the day, with visitors lining the streets to get a closer look at the impressive collection of vehicles including everything from a TVR and MR2 to a classic Beetle and Ford Cortina. The free event, organised by Burnley Business Improvement District (BID), also featured a packed programme of family entertainment.

The Cheshire Transformers proved a huge hit, with Optimus Prime and White Knight joined by walkabout character Bumblebee, while visitors also enjoyed free face painting on St James’s Street and crazy golf on Curzon Street. Radio Burnley’s Lee and Phil hosted the event, keeping visitors entertained throughout the day.

Jason Cothliff, Burnley BID Project Manager, said: “Despite the unpredictable weather, the turnout was fantastic and it was great to see so many people enjoying the event.

“Events like this are about much more than the activity itself. They bring people into the town, create a real buzz and give visitors another reason to discover our fantastic shops, cafés, restaurants and businesses.

“A huge thank you to everyone who exhibited a vehicle, supported the event or came along on the day. We’re delighted with its success.”

The Vintage & Performance Car Show forms part of Burnley BID’s ongoing programme of events and activities designed to increase footfall, showcase the town and support local businesses.
