Burnley are you ready to race? We’re delighted to announce the Burnley Soapbox Challenge – the first soapbox race to take place in the town since the famous Boxing Day races on Hammerton Street – will be taking place next June.

This exciting new event on Saturday 12 June 2027 will see gravity-powered homemade soapboxes race down Manchester Road as part of the Burnley 2027 Year of Culture. Expect a day packed with creativity, entertainment, friendly competition and plenty of community spirit.

Organised by Scott Dawson Advertising in partnership with Burnley.co.uk, Burnley Council, Burnley BID and Culture Burnley, the following are invited to build a soapbox, enter a team and become part of Burnley’s history:

Community Groups

Even better, 100% of entry fees will be donated to Healthier Heroes, Blaze and Burnley Youth Theatre, supporting the incredible work they do across our community.

Sponsors are also needed to get behind what promises to be one of Burnley’s biggest and most talked-about events, offering fantastic exposure while supporting three worthy local causes.
