An exciting schedule of events for 2024 has been outlined by Burnley Business Improvement District (BID).

With a view to further positioning the town as a destination of choice for residents, visitors, employees and shoppers, the BID has announced a series of activities designed to bring people into the town centre and increase dwell time throughout the year.

Burnley LIVE

A highlight on the calendar will be Burnley Live, which is set to return on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th May after a successful weekend of live music in 2023 saw hundreds descend on town centre venues to watch live singers and bands.

Shining a spotlight on talented musicians from Burnley and across the region, the event also helps to showcase a number of pubs and bars, and is set to be even bigger and better this spring.

Burnley Vintage & Performance Car Show

Elsewhere, the Burnley Vintage & Performance Car Show will be back for the third year running on Saturday 14th September.

The event brings together a collection of classic cars, vehicles and motorbikes, and drew in visitors from all over East Lancashire in both 2022 and 2023.

SEASONAL EVENTS

Seasonal events, such as the ever-popular Christmas Extravaganza, will see the town centre come alive with entertainment and attractions too, while Burnley BID will once again link up with town centre partners – including Charter Walk Shopping Centre and Burnley Council – to deliver activities during the school holidays that the whole family can enjoy.

Artisan Market

In other positive news, the Burnley Artisan Market is back in town on the first Saturday of every month from February to December, bringing homemade produce, handmade gifts, arts, crafts, and live music to St James’s Street and Charter Walk.

Customer Services Awards

The Burnley BID Customer Service Awards is also set to return for 2024 in the autumn.

Recognising the great customer service that the town’s retailers, independent businesses and hospitality venues demonstrate on a daily basis, further details about the event will be announced in the coming months.

Message from Burnley BID Project Manager

Speaking about what’s lined up for the year ahead, Burnley BID Project Manager Laura Diffey said: “There were some fantastic events in the town centre last year which really created a buzz, and we’re aiming to build on these in 2024.

“With Burnley Live and the Vintage & Performance Car Show, plus activities during holiday periods, we want people from all over the region to recognise Burnley as a vibrant hive of activity where there’s always something exciting going on.

“This in turn will help more people discover our fantastic town centre businesses and the wonderful, friendly people who make them tick.”
