Event Type

Want to talk openly about the residual trauma of the terrifying telly you saw as a child in the 1970s and ‘80s? Perhaps Doctor Who? Or Worzel Gummidge? Or even the dubious poltergeist story on your local ITV news programme that kept you awake for a fortnight?

Have you spent the last forty years trying to identify the series you saw sometime between 1971 and 1979 and you can’t remember exactly what it was but it had the bloke from that other show and he was fighting an alien with an egg whisk on its head, or it might have been a ghost with a sieve on its head, and you’re at least 67% sure it was absolutely, definitely him? Come and join our support group!

Arranged in partnership with Northern Folklore Archive, come and join writers Stephen Brotherstone and Bob Fischer for Scarred For Life – Unplanned. Held in the intimate setting of Burnley Library, it’s literally two hours of dangerously impromptu Q&A discussion about all your favourite childhood terrors!

“Their enthusiastic expertise for the subject is enlightening and infectious” – Fortean Times

“A charming look back at a time when pop culture was used to scare the living daylights out of every child and adult across the land” – Louder Than War

“It might just stop the nightmares” – We Are Cult
