Originally opened as Burnley’s Mechanics Institute in
1855, this Grade 2 star listed building was designed
by Architect James Green of Todmorden. Still a
centre of local cultural activity, join us for a day
of history as we celebrate our 170th anniversary.
Includes a display of items from the Burnley Empire
archive including never before displayed decorative
plasterwork saved during building works.
