Impromptu Patchwork Workshops with Liz Ellison🌟
Thursday 23rd & Thursday 30th January 10am to 4pm at Gannow Community Centre, Burnley BB12 6RB
Liz Ellison is a textile designer from Lancashire. Ellison’s main disciplines are patchwork, print and embroidery, she enjoys fusing them together to create pieces of art. Her Master’s project was a showcase of these skills which was featured as part of the Material Memories Exhibition at the British Textile Biennial 2023. She enjoys exploring both natural fabrics and dyeing techniques to produce pieces which blur the lines between function and form. Ellison’s work gives a contemporary twist to a heritage craft.
Workshop 1: January 23rd 10am to 4pm: Make a Palm Quilt
Workshop 2: January 30th 10am to 4pm: Embellishment with beadwork, print and embroidery
In these workshops we will explore impromptu patchwork and hand quilting to create a palm quilt which will then be embellished with beadwork, printing and embroidery to create your own unique panel to take away with you. All materials will be provided, and a very basic sewing skill level will be needed.
