For Heritage Open Day, step back in time to when cotton was king. Experience living history at Queen Street Mill, the last surviving 19th century steam powered weaving shed in the world. Let the smells, the noise, the atmosphere transport you back.
Travel back to the early 1900s, and experience what life was like for mill workers in Lancashire’s iconic weaving mill, Queen Street Mill. With authentically dressed and expert staff on hand, you can explore the mill as it was in its hey day. Watch weaving demonstrations on original looms that are over 120 years old, speak to our expert engine and machinery technicians and learn about the innovations of weaving from hand weaving to powered looms!
Normally by guided tour only, this Heritage Open Day we’re offering the opportunity to explore the mill free of charge and at your own pace, experiencing the mill as the workers would have in years gone by. If you choose to go on a guided tour, led by our knowledgeable guides, you can enjoy these for free.
