Burnley Believes… In the Christmas Light Switch On!
Christmas is coming to town as Burnley prepares to light up the season with its most magical event of the year.
The much-anticipated Burnley Believes Christmas Light Switch On is set to make a marvellous return on Saturday 16th November, filled with dazzling activities, delightful entertainment, and a sprinkle of magic sure to get everyone in the spirit of Christmas.
Launching from 11am, the streets will be buzzing with holiday cheer as families enjoy a host of Christmas activities, including:
10:00am – 5:30pm Fun fair on St James’s Street
11:00am – 4:00pm Come and meet the colourful, festive, outrageously funny Christmas Cracker duo. Various appearances throughout the day.
11:00am – 3:00pm Christmas-themed Crazy Golf on Curzon Street
12:00 – 4:00pm Festive trail map, face painting, letter writing, as well as performances with Punch & Judy, balloon modelling and comedy magic on St James’s Street
1:30 – 5:00pm Little ones can meet their favourite characters as Lilo and Stitch mascots make an exciting appearance on St James’s Street
3.15pm – 3.45pm Santa Claus for a meet and greet at Pioneer Place
Throughout the afternoon from 2:00 – 5:00pm there will be performances from the festive wheelnut on St James’s Street.
Over on the live stage from 12pm – 5.30pm, an array of performers will entertain the crowds, hosted by Gavin Young and including performances and acts include Andrew Gilmour (aka ‘Giz’) who is a guitarist, singer and songwriter opening the live stage, social media’s Ice-Cream Twins, Channy, local vocalists Jess McGlinchey, and dance acts from Next Level Dance, Ashworth’s Dance Academy and DLN Dance, Scoop!, Burnley College Performing Arts, an Interactive Elf Show and a princess takeover show. As the excitement builds, the Burnley Panto Society will also delight audiences with a sneak peek of their upcoming production of Peter Pan, bringing some extra sparkle to the celebrations.
Join us for the magical lantern parade as it sets off from Pioneer Place from 4.00pm and winds its way through the town centre, accompanied by none other than Santa Claus himself. The festive parade will lead to the grand finale, where the Christmas Light Switch-On will take place at 5.30pm, complete with a countdown and snow cannons firing a flurry of magic on Burnley’s St James’s street.
4:45 – 5:05pm There is also a Princess meet and greet on St James’s Street.
