Event Type

Gawthorpe’s grounds are one of the most important places for bats in east Lancashire. Join us on this guided walk to find out more about them and see if you can spot one on its evening flight.

The grounds and buildings of Gawthorpe are really important for the number of bats that live here. On this guided walk you can find out about the different species, their habitat and lifestyle, then you can go hunting for them using the latest sound detectors with our local expert and ‘batman’ Roger Cunliffe. These creatures have a fascinating life and are more common than you may realise, so why not come along to find out more.

This event is outside in the grounds, during the evening, please bring a torch as there is little outside lighting. Dress appropriately for the weather and wear boots or other sturdy footwear, as the route follows unsurfaced paths around the grounds.

Meet at the front of Gawthorpe Hall.

Booking essential £5 adults, £3 children. Please click here for booking link.
